| The
Magpie is an EPS/Depron airplane designed from the ground up as a
first trainer. It is easy to build and will withstand the abuse of
a beginner pilot. Because of its excellent stability, strength, and
ability to fly in wind, the Magpie is a great AP (Aerial Photography)
platform. |

There are two wing options available for the Magpie. The SF (SlowFly) wing has a 46 inch wingspan and is a good choice for a first trainer. The SP (Sport) has a 40 inch wingspan, has less dihedral, and has ailerons. Both wings are interchangeable allowing you to move up to the SP wing as your skills progress. The Magpie is designed around the GWS EPS350C-C motor, 9x7 propeller, and KAN650 battery. The Magpie flies very well with this low cost power package. You will need some wing tape, CA, and epoxy to assemble the Magpie. The tail servos are located near the tail so you will need two 12" servo extension cables. The SP wing will need a third servo for the ailerons. The servo
mounts, control horns, control horn mounting plates, and motor mount
are laser cut plywood. We include both a stick mount motor mount
as well as a firewall type mount. We also include optional landing
gear. |

Also available is the new Magpie AP,
a variation that was specifically designed for aerial photography.
It has a larger wing and fuz than the SF, and features an integral
cam-mount in the fuz. The mount can be adjusted for tilt on the ground,
or servo operated in flight. Designed around the affordable EPS400,
to handle the extra weight of the camera, but a brushless motor and
LiPo battery pack is recommend for lighter weight and better duration.
2 motor mounts are included for either stick or firewall mounting. |
